Youth Ministry: NYC08

WHEN IS IT? June 21-27, 2008; a Saturday through Friday

WHY GO? This trip will, no doubt, quench these students' desire for the ultimate urban adventure. We're making the trek to the city that never sleeps to partner with international missions organization: YWAM (Youth with a Mission) in a vast expression of servant ministry opportunities all over the city. We're expecting to see God breathe life, value, salvation, blessing, and healing into the lives of the people of New York. We know that as the week tears on, these students will find their worldview expanding by leaps and bounds, their faith stretched and challenged and key spiritual disciplines inside their everyday lives being formed, strengthened, and developed.

WHAT ARE YOU DOING? Our set ministry opportunities include (but aren't limited to):

  • Serving at a free after-school tutoring program for students of low-income families in Manhattan
  • Laboring in a World Vision distribution warehouse in the heart of the Bronx
  • Playing in various public parks with inner-city kids
  • Participating in hands-on homeless ministry across the city
  • Serving alongside the main AIDS outreach organization to service Manhattan
  • Participate in on-the-street walk-up Prayer Stations in Brooklyn and Spanish Harlem
  • Prayer walk areas of the city desperate for a move of God

WHAT ABOUT FUN STUFF? In addition to all the ministry opportunities, we'll be scoping out quite a bit else the city has to offer during our time there. Our set activities schedule includes (but isn't limited to):

  • Attending a Sunday service at Brooklyn Tabernacle Church-home of the world-famous urban choir
  • Visiting the Statue of Liberty
  • Spending an evening a Broadway show
  • Playing Ultimate Frisbee in Central Park
  • Dining at the ESPNZone in Times Square across from MTV's TRL Studio
  • Riding the famous NYC Subway all week long
  • Worshiping alongside 1500+ other students at Metro's Mid-Week Inner-City Youth Group

HOW MUCH? $950

  • The cost includes all meals, ministry opportunities and other activities on the trip (as listed below); essentially everything but extra spending money for souvenirs, snacks, etc.
  • $50 non-refundable deposit is required with their application
  • $400 must be turned into our outreach offices by April 14
  • Each student's full balance is due by May 18
